Mike Wilson

Mike Wilson, founder of IceSense, began his hockey journey as a youth player in Virginia, where he quickly fell in love with the game. Growing up in a non-traditional hockey market came with challenges, but his passion and work ethic opened doors to higher levels of competition. He went on to play AAA Tier 1 Elite before advancing to junior hockey in Springfield, Massachusetts, where he served as team captain and earned All-Conference honors.

That same leadership carried into his college career, where Mike also served as a team captain and was an over point-per-game player. As his playing career progressed, studying the game through film became a major turning point in his development. Breaking down video helped him recognize patterns, anticipate plays, and understand the game at a deeper level, accelerating his growth and changing how he prepared, trained, and performed. His impact both on and off the ice earned him the 2025 Matty Hier Award, recognizing the player who best exemplifies the qualities of an exceptional teammate.

After college, Mike earned a PTO with the Worcester Railers in the ECHL and went on to play professionally in the SPHL with the Quad City Storm and the Fayetteville Marksmen. Competing alongside WHL, USHL, NCAA Division I players, and NHL Draft picks further reinforced the importance of hockey IQ, preparation, and decision-making at the highest levels of the game.

Off the ice, Mike has coached and developed players for over five years. He has worked with numerous hockey camps, served as a video and skills coach at Worcester State University, and collaborated with the skill development staff at Dexter Southfield through Max Pro Hockey Club.

With years of experience on and off the ice, Mike believes real development goes beyond repetition. His work focuses on helping players build confidence, sharpen instincts, and train with purpose so they can play faster, make better decisions, and consistently apply their skills in game situations.
